Today at Sangrur, 1158 Assistant Professors and Librarians Front held a joint protest march with the support of farmers, workers, employees, students and public democratic organizations. A foot march was started from DC office Sangrur to Barnala Kanchian Chowk. After this, the speakers of the organizations held a stage in front of the residence of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.



Jaspreet Sivian said that the main demands of this March are that 411 assistant professors and librarians who are to be appointed should be appointed in colleges immediately and 1158 recruitment should be completed. The ‘AAP’ government, which is oppressing the organization struggling for their rightful demands, should stop its dictatorial attitude. Along with this a written assurance should be given to cancel the leaflets on a total of 40 colleagues including women professors out of 1158 front,
Paramjit Singh said that the common people of Punjab are associating the struggle of 1158 Front. The battle at the front will continue till all the candidates of 1158 recruits join the colleges. After this, the struggle will be waged on other issues of higher education.
Baljinder Kamboj informed that the double bench of the Hon’ble Punjab and Haryana High Court had given the go-ahead to carry out the 1158 Assistant Professor and Librarian recruitment on September 23, 2024. Jaspreet Kaur said that 607 assistant professors have been appointed in colleges but the remaining 411 assistant professor and librarian candidates are waiting for appointment for the last three months.
Pritpal said that today we have raised our voice to protect the democratic space for all the parties who are struggling through this march. Jaskaran Singh thanked all the unions for their support.
