Mohali, February 17 : The Computer Teachers Hunger Strike Struggle Committee, Punjab organized a Maha Rally today in front of the Education Department office in Mohali. A large number of computer teachers from across Punjab participated in the protest, expressing their strong resentment against the government. Condemning the government for failing to fulfill its promises, they warned that if all their rights were not restored in time, the struggle would be further intensified.
Strong Resentment Over Government’s Betrayal
Committee leaders Parmveer Singh Pammi, Pradeep Kumar Maluka, Joni Singla, Nardeep Sharma, Sushil Angural, Jaspal, Ranjit Singh, Lakhwinder Singh, Udham Singh Dogra, and Rakesh Saini stated that during a meeting with the Principal Secretary of the Finance Department on February 3 and 4, the government had assured that either unrevised DA or the 6th Pay Commission would be implemented within two days. However, no notification has been issued so far. Additionally, the promise of merging computer teachers into the Education Department has not yet been fulfilled due to pressure from officials, leading to widespread dissatisfaction among teachers.
Preparing for the Next Phase, Struggle to Intensify
Teachers from across the state took mass leave to participate in today’s Maha Rally. They demanded that the government immediately issue the notification; otherwise, a new strategy for the movement would be formulated. The struggle is receiving strong support from teacher organizations, employee federations, students, farmers, and labor unions.
The Struggle Committee made it clear that if the government still fails to accept the demands of computer teachers, the statewide protest will be escalated further. The full responsibility for this will lie with the Punjab Government and the Education Department.
