To ensure the implementation of the demands accepted and promises made by the central government, farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal’s hunger strike entered its 74th day today at the Datasinghwala-Khanauri farmer protest site, which began on November 26, 2024.
Farmer leaders stated that preparations are in full swing for the upcoming Mahapanchayats scheduled on February 11, 12, and 13 at Ratanpura, Datasinghwala-Khanauri, and Shambhu protest sites. To review these preparations, a special meeting of the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) will be held tomorrow, February 8, at the Khanauri protest site.
For the Mahapanchayat being organized at the Ratanpura protest site on February 11, a team of farmer leaders visited villages including Peer Kanwaria, Surewala, Naiwala, Kulchandar, Saharni, Kharakhera, Gudiya, Tandoorwali, Bashir, and Sabuana to invite farmers to participate.
Today, office bearers of the Punjab unit of the Bhartiya Kisan Union (Ambawata) reached the protest site and extended their support to the movement.
Tomorrow, under the third phase of the ‘Pavitra Jal Yatra’ from Haryana, a group from over 50 villages will bring water from their farmlands’ tube wells and reach the Datasinghwala-Khanauri protest site.
