Government Employees Delaying Public Services to Face Fines Up to ₹5,000: Additional Deputy Commissioner

Key Meeting Held with Departments to Ensure Timely Delivery of Public Services Under Punjab Transparency and Accountability Act

Fazilka, January 29 – To strictly implement the Punjab Transparency and Accountability Act, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Dr. Mandeep Kaur held a meeting with officials from various departments. She stated that under this Act, 921 services from 39 departments have been notified, each with a stipulated time frame within which they must be provided to citizens.

She emphasized that if any office fails to deliver services within the prescribed time, citizens can appeal to the Appellate Authority, which, under this Act, is the Additional Deputy Commissioner (General). Furthermore, she can also impose a fine of up to ₹5,000 on government employees responsible for delays. Therefore, all departments must ensure the timely delivery of services to the public without any delay.

Dr. Mandeep Kaur also instructed the departments to submit a monthly report on service delivery and warned that any negligence in this matter would not be tolerated, leading to strict action. She directed that if any office has pending public service requests beyond the specified timeframe, they must be resolved immediately. The government will take such cases seriously and enforce strict measures if necessary.

The objective of this initiative is to enhance transparency and accountability across Punjab, ensuring the smooth provision of public services. This reflects the government’s commitment to effective administration.
