Legal Action to be Taken Against the Use and Storage of Chinese Kite String – Deputy Commissioner

Patiala, January 28

The Deputy Commissioner of Patiala, Dr. Preeti Yadav, held a meeting today at the District Administrative Complex to address the prevention of the use of Chinese kite string (commonly referred to as “China Dor”). Chairing the meeting, she emphasized that the use and storage of Chinese kite string is a legal offense. Strict action will be taken against individuals violating this prohibition.

Dr. Yadav stated that the administration has already imposed a ban on the use of Chinese kite string. She instructed all concerned departments to strictly implement the orders and ensure compliance. Highlighting the dangers, she explained that the use of this string leads to severe accidents, harming both humans and innocent birds and animals. Dead birds trapped in this string often remain hanging from trees, causing foul smells and environmental pollution. Additionally, since the string is made of synthetic/plastic material, it poses significant risks to human lives and wildlife when used for flying kites.

The Deputy Commissioner directed all Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) to conduct awareness campaigns in schools to educate children about the ban through interactions with parents and teachers. The police department was also instructed to form teams and conduct regular inspection drives to curb its usage.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Isha Singhal, Assistant Commissioner Richa Goel, all SDMs, Chief Minister’s Field Officer Dr. Navjot Sharma, District Attorney, police department DSPs, and other officials.
