Guest Faculty of Government Colleges Protest at Education Minister’s Village Gambhirpur; Postpone Dharna to February 4 for Panel Meeting (Warn of Punjab Bhawan Gherao if Issue Unresolved: Front Leaders)

The Guest Faculty Assistant Professors of government colleges, under the leadership of the Joint Front Punjab, held a protest at the native village of Higher Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, Gambhirpur. They raised slogans against the government, expressing their anger. The front leaders stated that they have been fighting for the security of their jobs for the past three months but have only received repeated assurances from the Education Minister, forcing them to stage a dharna in protest.

They urged Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and the Higher Education Minister to formulate a comprehensive policy to secure their jobs and provide them with respectable salaries. During the protest, the Education Minister issued a written letter inviting them to a panel meeting at Punjab Bhawan, Chandigarh, on February 4, 2025, following which the guest faculty ended their dharna.

The front leaders warned that if no policy is implemented to secure their jobs during the February 4 meeting, all guest faculty members of Punjab’s government colleges will hold a large-scale gherao at Punjab Bhawan in Chandigarh the same day.

Guest faculty assistant professors from all government colleges across Punjab participated in the protest.
