Jagjit Singh Dallewal’s Hunger Strike Continues for 58th Day, Gains Nationwide Support

The hunger strike of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal at the Daatasinghwala-Khanauri Kisan Morcha entered its 58th day today. For the first time in nearly two months, Dallewal stepped out of his trolley to get fresh air and sunlight. Around 2 PM, he emerged on a stretcher, expressing gratitude to Guru Granth Sahib Ji and stating, “It is only due to the blessings of the Gurus that we have compelled the central government to come to the discussion table.”

In the presence of farmer leaders, senior doctors, and administrative officials, Dallewal spent around three hours outside near his newly-prepared trolley, enjoying fresh air and sunlight. A new room is being constructed for him, which is expected to be ready within 2-3 days.

Farmers from across the country continue to show solidarity with Dallewal’s cause. Today, hundreds of farmers staged a symbolic hunger strike in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, in support of his protest.

Preparations for the programs announced by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha on January 26 are underway nationwide. Farmer leaders also announced plans to mark the completion of one year of the ongoing movement next month, with major events being planned. The details of these programs are being finalized by the leadership of both morchas.
