Jagjit Singh Dallewal’s Hunger Strike Enters 57th Day as Farmers’ Protest Gains Nationwide Support

On the 57th day of the farmers’ protest at Datasinghwala-Khanauri, farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal’s hunger strike continues. Due to spending 57 days inside a trolley, he will be shifted out of the trolley tomorrow afternoon to a newly constructed trolley/room near the stage. This step is being taken to ensure proper ventilation and natural light. Experts are disinfecting the area around the trolley/room, ensuring it is bacteria-free by cleaning and spraying medicines.

Farmer leaders have stated that Jagjit Singh Dallewal’s hunger strike and the struggle will continue until their demands are met. Farmers have taken another step forward in their fight for victory and pledged to keep the movement strong and united.

In support of Jagjit Singh Dallewal’s hunger strike, a symbolic one-day hunger strike was observed at the district level in Maharashtra, and a memorandum was sent to the central government through district officials. Tomorrow, thousands of farmers in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, will also observe a one-day symbolic fast in solidarity.

Both protest sites have strongly condemned the recent police lathi charge on farmers in Hanumangarh, stating that such violent actions by the police have no place in a democracy.
