Punjab Computer Teachers Write Blood Letters to CM Bhagwant Mann, Demand Fulfillment of Promises

January 15, Sangrur: The ongoing protests by Punjab’s computer teachers against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government show no signs of slowing down. Frustrated by unfulfilled promises, over 50 computer teachers have written letters in their own blood to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, reminding him of the commitments made before the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections.

In these letters, the teachers accused the government of breaking its promises and neglecting their rights. They demanded the restoration of their allowances, job regularization, and implementation of the Sixth Pay Commission.

137th Day of Hunger Strike

The teachers’ hunger strike, which started on September 1, 2024, outside the Sangrur Deputy Commissioner’s office, has entered its 137th day. Leaders of the Computer Teachers Hunger Strike Struggle Committee, including Raghubir Singh, Gurdeep Chand, Pradeep Singh Babbehali, and others, have criticized the government for its indifference.

Ranjit Singh, a protester on a hunger strike for 13 days, is reported to be in deteriorating health, yet the government has not taken any positive action. Another protester, Jony Singla, who began a hunger strike unto death, was forcibly hospitalized but continues his protest.

Blood Letters to the Chief Minister

Over 50 computer teachers have sent blood-written letters to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, highlighting their demands and accusing the government of betrayal. The letters remind the CM and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal of their pre-election promises to fulfill the demands of computer teachers. The protesters also plan to submit these letters through Deputy Commissioners in different districts to further press the government.

Massive Protest Planned in Delhi

The teachers have announced a large-scale protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on January 22, 2025. They aim to expose the AAP government’s unfulfilled promises to the people of Delhi ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in the national capital.

Failed Meetings and Government Apathy

Despite over 50 meetings with officials, including Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, and AAP state president Aman Arora, the teachers claim that their demands remain ignored. The protest leaders called these meetings “fruitless” and accused the government of providing empty assurances.

Future Course of Action

The computer teachers have vowed to intensify their protests across Punjab and escalate their agitation further in Delhi. They warned that they would continue exposing the government’s failures until their legitimate demands are met.
